The Big Ugly
That thing you've been avoiding like the plague? You need to do that first.
I’m writing this mostly to myself. It’s easy to avoid the tough stuff by chasing shiny objects, learning cool new things, and doing what I call “procrasti-creating.”
I am the master of this.
I literally wrote 60 books with the assistance of various AI tools and published 5 books to avoid finishing my next Black Kat book, the White King. That entire series is epic and huge and ambitious and hella daunting. It’s got multiple POVs, storylines that unfold across two planets, and three generations of character with arcs that grow and change over decades. Not to mention a fantasy language that multiplies like tribbles in every book.
Yeah, THAT.
But that’s not the real reason I cancelled my Amazon pre-orders for that book twice and lost pre-order privileges for a year both times.
Nope. Not even close.
I can do hard things. I do them every day. I walk 4 miles before breakfast and homeschool two kids in Algebra before lunchtime. I am stubborn. I am persistent. I like challenges. I like learning and doing all the things.
So why can’t I do THAT thing?
