Indie authors wear a slew of different hats. Just getting it all done feels monumental. But AI and other tech can help with the heavy lifting. It doesn’t replace you, it empowers you, helping you avoid burnout and cross the finish line in whatever manner you choose.
This substack will explore what that looks like and how to do it as the world around us continues to spin at a dizzying pace, and tools, methods, and entire industries continue to change.
Good stories don’t change. Neither do good business practices. Figuring out how to implement both with the amazing arsenal of tools we now have at our disposal can be confusing. Know thyself, know thy AI, and come learn with me!
About me: I’m the author of over 20 books under multiple pen names. Since the advent of Claude Skills and IDEs (coding apps), my workflow has accelerated to the point where I have a backlog of over 60 books I’m working on getting out the door. They are all written by me, with AI assistance (my earlier books were not.) Automating whatever I can, while still human proofing and polishing them into the best form I can, is a must.
I’ve spent the last few months teaching this in the Future Fiction Academy and on The Ink and Code Society YouTube Live broadcasts. While I continue to teach and lead the Ink & Code Society inside the FFA and teach classes, I’m shifting the YouTube Live content here to this substack.
Though I love the YouTube format and have a broadcast background, I also have a full life. I homeschool. I travel. I publish. I do all the things, explore all the things, and write about all the thing. That’s my jam.
Reaching writers through writing actually makes more sense than trying to catch them on YouTube, so here we are. We’ll still feature News, Views, and Tools You Can Use, all the hallmarks of the show, at a more reasonable pace (the lives were fun but require insane amounts of prep and time.)
